About PUTIEN
Putien Singapore is a distinguished culinary brand that has its roots in Putian, a coastal suburb in Fujian, China. This region, known for its rich cultural history, inspires the authentic Fujian cuisine that Putien offers. The story of Putien began in 2000 when its founder, Uncle Fong, moved from China to Singapore. Craving the flavors of his hometown and unable to find a suitable eatery serving Fujian cuisine, he established the first Putien outlet on Kitchener Road. This initial endeavor was a modest “coffee shop style” eatery specializing in Heng Hwa cuisines.
Dedicated to sourcing fresh and high-quality ingredients, particularly seafood, Uncle Fong established a reputation for uncompromising quality. He would personally visit the Jurong seafood wholesale market to ensure the freshest seafood for his dishes. This commitment to quality helped the restaurant break even in its third year, following which it began to rapidly expand. By 2016, Putien had already established a significant presence in Singapore with multiple outlets and had begun its expansion overseas.
Putien’s journey has been marked by numerous milestones and accolades. The brand has expanded globally, with 49 outlets in regions including Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. In Singapore, it operates 12 outlets. Recognition for its exceptional quality came in the form of a Michelin One-Star award for its Kitchener Road outlet in Singapore and a recommendation in the Michelin Guide for its Causeway Bay outlet in Hong Kong.
The essence of Putien’s success lies in its founder’s philosophy of using fresh ingredients and traditional preparation methods, a principle that has not only won the hearts of customers but also garnered numerous awards and established Putien as a leading restaurant brand in the region.
