About the Brand
Go-Ang Kaomunkai Pratunam (its full name) was founded in 1960 by Mr. Sombat Pruekpaiboon in the heart of Bangkok’s Pratunam district. Mr. Sombat served primarily Khao Man Gai, a dish that was introduced to Thailand by Chinese immigrants and adapted to the taste of the local Thais. While there are numerous chicken rice stalls in Pratunam district, Go-Ang Pratunam was the favourite among locals for its poached chicken and fragrant rice.
Over the years, the shop became popular among tourists and late-night foodies in the Pratunam district. In 2018, Go-Ang Pratunam was awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand in the MICHELIN Guide Thailand. It went on to receive award in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023.
In 2018, Pruekpaiboon, second-generation owner of Go-Ang Pratunam and son of Mr. Sombat, expanded the iconic brand out of Bangkok by opening the first overseas outlet in Nex Shopping Mall. As of 2024, the iconic brand has 4 outlets in VivoCity, Nex, Jem, and Plaza Singapura.
In its Singapore outlets, Go-Ang Pratunam Chicken Rice offers more than just its famous chicken rice. Friends and families can opt for a tze char style meal as the outlets offer several other dishes from the simple-looking omelette with chai poh (preserved radish) and kai lan with basil and minced chicken to Thai Prawn Cake and Thai-style Curry Fish Head.
